Thyme is the most commonly used culinary herb. This variety is a compact upright perennial with narrow, grey-green leaves that are deeply aromatic. It produces small white flowers in early summer that can also be used in cooking. Thyme can be used to flavour meat, poultry and fish dishes. It is also used in Italian pasta sauces with peppers and aubergines. It can be added to marinades when cooking meats and vegetables on the barbeque. It is an essential herb in mixes such as herbes de Provence and bouquet garni. Plant in full sun and in well-drained soil. Does not like to be mulched. Height/Spread: 15cmx40cm in 2 to 5 years
